California AB 2927 Alignment — The Crescara//Project
California AB 2927 · Personal Finance Mandate

AB 2927 requires it.
We teach it.

California AB 2927 mandates a personal finance course in every public high school by 2027, with a graduation requirement following in 2030. Below is the complete alignment between The Crescara//Project curriculum and all 13 required content areas identified in California's Personal Finance Curriculum Guide.

The Law

What AB 2927 actually requires.

Signed into law in 2022, California Assembly Bill 2927 requires every public high school to offer a standalone personal finance course by the 2027 to 2028 school year. Beginning with the graduating class of 2030 to 2031, personal finance becomes a graduation requirement.

The law references the California Personal Finance Curriculum Guide, which identifies 13 core content areas schools must cover. The Crescara//Project addresses all 13.

2027
Every California public high school must offer a personal finance course. AB 2927 is already law.
2030
Personal finance becomes a graduation requirement. Every student. Every school.
13 required content areas.
The Crescara//Project covers all 13 , across 3 units and 27 chapters, taught in sequence, with no prior knowledge assumed.

Beyond Compliance

Meeting the mandate is the floor. We teach past it.

AB 2927 sets the minimum. A checklist of topics is not a curriculum. The Crescara//Project sequences those 13 content areas in the order students will actually encounter them in life, connects them to each other, and builds habits through repetition, not review sheets.

You don't teach investing without first teaching budgeting. You don't teach credit without first teaching income. The sequence is the curriculum.

Personalized by geography
Content adapts to each student's real financial context , a student in rural California and a student in Los Angeles are not facing the same realities.
Habits built in, not bolted on
Budgeting, saving, reading fine print , reinforced across all three units through the Consequence Engine, not addressed once in a single chapter.
Zero prior knowledge assumed
Every concept is introduced from scratch. Teachers do not need a financial background. Students do not need one either.
